Tim Kaufmann is a multi-talented and highly creative games designer...
Who loves ice cream!
Before moving into games, Tim completed his PhD in neuroscience at the University of Warwick. During his spare time he frequently collaborated with professors and artists to explore creative ways of illustrating science. In doing so he decided on the long-term goal of developing emotionally engaging games centred around themes of Science and Humanity.
With support from The Wellcome Trust, Tim earned a Masters Degree in Games Design and Development from the world renowned National Film and Television School. His graduating game, Misfolded, which was inspired by his previous research into dementia, premiered at EGX 2018. Misfolded was awarded the Top 10 Stars indie prize and shortlisted for Best Student Game at the 2019 Grads in Games awards.
Tim has developed games for virtual, augmented and mixed reality platforms, including Oculus and Magic Leap, as well as PC, mobile and web.
His current work at Factory 42, UK, is a collaboration with the Almeida Theatre to build location-based experiences for the Natural History Museum and Science Museum.
